Caring for Fresh Florals

Fresh cut flowers can wilt and fade quickly if not properly cared for. Here are some helpful tips to prolong the life of your bouquet:

  1. Sanitize the Vase: Always start with a clean vase to minimize bacterial growth. You can wash it with hot soapy water or use a mild bleach solution
  2. Fresh Water: Use clean, fresh, room-temperature water.
  3. Cut Stems: Before arranging them in the vase, cut the stems at a 45-degree angle. This increases the surface area for water absorption. Always cut stems under water to prevent air from entering the stems, which can block water absorption
  4. Remove Foliage: Remove leaves that will be submerged in the water, as they can decompose and encourage bacteria.
  5. Flower Positioning: Arrange flowers in a way that allows good air circulation between them. Overcrowding can lead to mold.
  6. Location: Keep the flowers in a cool location away from direct sunlight, drafts, and heat sources like radiators or electronics.
  7. Change Water: Replace the water every 2-3 days or if it becomes cloudy. Each time you change the water, recut the stems.
  8. Check for Decay: Regularly remove wilted, moldy or dead flowers and leaves, as they can accelerate the decay of other flowers.
